I'm Lorie Ann Warren and I'm proud to be a RE/MAX Realtor.

I've been pursuing this career for a long while now (I won't say how long; a lady never tells how long she's been a realtor). Over those many years, I've learned a few things.

I've learned that to build a real estate business, you have to be true with people. There are all sorts of short-term tricks – overpricing homes, dodgy financing, things like that. And they work for some people in the short run. But if you're in it for the long haul, tell the truth.

I've learned that integrity will get you far. A strong moral compass will bring you success in life and in business. So I stick to my word. I don't promise what I can't deliver. But if I say I'm going to do something, I do it. Every time. It's a promise you can take to the bank.

But most of all I have learned that this real estate business is all about relationships. I have clients who, over many years, have bought and sold properties with me. They started out as clients and have become true friends.

Humphrey Bogart famously said in the film Casablanca "this could be the start of a beautiful friendship".

Today when I'm privileged to meet a new client I don't see it as a quick-and-easy real estate sale. I always think to myself "this could be the start of a great relationship".

I'm Michael Warren and (though you wouldn't know it from looking at our photos because I'm so much prettier) Lorie Ann is actually my Mom.

It's a family business.

Mom had been in real estate for quite a while and I looked at it and thought she's happy, her clients are happy and she's doing good work helping people with their real estate goals. So I thought that's good solid work that I can do and be proud of.

So here I am. Part of the team. These days, I mostly work with buyers.

When I started in this career I thought it would be all about being some sort of fast- talking slick salesman going on about features and upgrades and new carpets and such.

But it's not. It's all about listening. It's about understanding what sort of space you want to live. It's about understanding what kind of community you want to live in.

The more I listen and the more I understand the better I'm able to combine that with my acquired knowledge of the Ottawa market to introduce you to properties that fit your lifestyle.

My job is not to drag you all over town looking at everything and anything hoping that something sticks.

My job is to show you a select group of properties that are so in touch with your hopes and needs that your only problem is deciding which one to go for.
